ReefCams Privacy Policy

ReefCams is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with wildlife livestreams and lets you manage your preferred cams from a sidebar.

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information ReefCams collects, how it is used, and how it is handled. ReefCams is designed to provide a simple wildlife livestream viewing experience and to store only the minimum information needed to make that experience work.

Information We Collect

ReefCams may process the following limited categories of information:

Anonymous session information needed to keep the extension working between new tabs.
User preference data, such as selected cams, cam order, and the last active stream.
Technical request data handled by third-party services required for the product to function, such as requests to Supabase, Vercel, and YouTube.

No Account Login

ReefCams does not currently offer an account sign-in flow for end users. The extension uses an anonymous backend session only to store and restore cam preferences.

Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Browsing history
Page content from websites you visit
Personal communications
Financial information
Health information
Precise location information

How Information Is Used

ReefCams uses the information above only to:

Load the available wildlife cameras
Remember your selected cams and last viewed stream
Maintain an anonymous session so the extension works consistently between new tabs
Deliver and display livestream content in the new tab page

Third-Party Services

ReefCams relies on the following service providers:

Supabase for session handling and storage of cam selection data
Vercel for hosting the player and related public pages
YouTube for embedded livestream playback

These services may receive technical request information such as IP address, browser metadata, and request headers as part of normal web delivery.

Data Sharing

ReefCams does not sell user data. ReefCams does not share user data with third parties except as needed to operate the extension and deliver its single purpose, such as loading streams and storing user cam preferences through the services described above.

Data Retention

Anonymous session and preference data may be retained for as long as needed to provide the ReefCams experience, unless removed by the user or deleted as part of normal service maintenance.

Your Choices

You can stop all future data processing by uninstalling the extension. You may also reset local extension data by removing the extension from Chrome and reinstalling it.

Changes To This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product or legal changes. Any updated version will be posted at this page.
